DENON’S GOT WORK TO DO ON THE HEOS APP.
I’ve only had this for a couple of weeks now. I initially loved this speaker, but as I’ve been continually frustrated, I had to come back and edit this review. I’ve gone from 5 to 3 stars for now.I feel the product is seriously hindered by the HEOS app. It probably works great with the Denon series of smart speakers that preceded this new generation, but with the Home 600…let’s just say that Denon has a lot of work to do with it. Customer service and all of the AI enabled searches I’m doing continually tell me to do things that are not even possible as they relate to the Home 600. In researching, I’m finding that these “suggestions” are based on the previous generation of Denon smart speakers.Whenever possible, I am bypassing the app and playing music directly from the Tidal, Qobuz and Amazon apps. Tidal works the best as it has Tidal Connect that works with this speaker through the Tidal app. The Qobuz app shows the speaker with Qobuz Connect. Amazon Music Unlimited will connect through casting, but I’m not sure if this is optimal. With Apple Music, there’s no way to add the service to the HEOS app, but since the speaker has Airplay, I am able to connect to the speaker, but again, I don’t know if that is optimal. I initially ran into this problem with another company’s smart speaker, but they have rectified the issue. Denon has not.If you use the HEOS app, you are stuck with having the Autoplay kick in whenever your selection has finished playing. This is really annoying and I’ve tried EVERY suggestion that Denon customer service has given me and nothing works. Also, you can’t select a “single” track to play without Autoplay kicking in when the track is finished. You’re just stuck with selecting the “Play All” feature for an album…but when it finishes, Autoplay again kicks in. So, let’s say you just want to listen to a portion of an album, you can’t do that because if you select a track, only that track will play…it will not just go to the next track of the album…it will go into Autoplay mode again. The sound is really great out of the box. It is warm and detailed and I made no adjustments to the bass or treble. Regarding placement, there are settings based on the speaker’s proximity to walls. There is a width setting for a wider soundstage with incremental settings of1 to 5. After researching, I have it set to 2. The height setting for Dolby Atmos also has incremental settings of 1 – 5. I have mine set to 3. I found that if you push these settings to 5, there are some recordings that may set the vocals back a bit. All of these settings will be influenced by the size and specifics of the room, so you may want to experiment with your choices. These selections are all available when you select the Auto mode. If you don’t want any of these controls, you can select the Pure mode, but that disables the width or other processing settings you can adjust in the Auto mode.I am primarily using TuneIn for radio within the HEOS app and it works great. This speaker has amazing potential and it sounds fantastic when things work. It’s just a shame that the HEOS app is just not ready for this speaker. I also suggest you find, and use the 53 page manual for more basic information.

Great for Background Listening, But Has Some Limitations for Movies and Value
I had high hopes for this Home 200 Speaker when I first unboxed it. Visually, it’s a winner: it’s compact, lightweight, and the sleek black shell looks great on a shelf or tabletop. Setting it up was a breeze, with syncing via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth taking just seconds. For background listening, the speaker performs quite well. It excels at capturing high and mid-tones, delivering clear vocals that make it perfect for podcasts, audiobooks, or genres like jazz and classical music. However, if you are looking for deep, thumping bass, this speaker falls a bit short. My main frustration lies in watching movies or videos. There is a noticeable audio lag where the sound doesn’t sync with the visuals, and I haven’t been able to find a fix for this. The instruction manual doesn’t mention troubleshooting this specific issue, leading me to suspect the solution might be buried in the companion app. Speaking of which, while the app offers remote control and access to streaming services, I found it unnecessary to download another app just to control a speaker. Ideally, a physical remote should be included at this price point.Another design limitation is the button placement. Since all controls are on the unit itself or within the app, I couldn’t tuck the speaker away on a low shelf as planned; I had to keep it in a visible, accessible spot. Additionally, it is not portable as it requires a constant power connection. While the build quality is good and it has modern features, the sound quality and lack of a physical remote don’t quite justify the asking price, especially when compared to established brands like JBL that offer legendary sound at a lower cost. It’s a decent speaker for casual listening, but I’ve had to tuck it away for specific uses rather than making it my primary audio source.

Compact Speaker Sounds Bigger than it Looks
I picked up the Denon Home 200 to replace a tired Bluetooth speaker on my desk and to add a nicer-sounding option for my kitchen and living room. I use it on a bookshelf and sometimes on my desk next to my laptop. I connected it to Wi‑Fi and AirPlay 2, and I also tried Bluetooth and the USB‑C input for a laptop. I paired a second Home 200 for stereo listening during a weekend of music and movies. From the first song I played I noticed clear, detailed mids and crisp highs. Vocals sounded natural and instruments had good separation. The bass is tighter than I expected for a speaker this size and never overwhelmed the rest of the mix. When I streamed Dolby Atmos Music tracks the soundstage felt wider and more immersive than a typical single‑driver speaker. The finish looks premium and the top controls are intuitive. It sits unobtrusively on a shelf or side table. Wi‑Fi streaming through AirPlay 2 worked flawlessly. If you want a compact speaker that punches above its weight for small to medium rooms, the Denon Home 200 is a great choice. It gave me cleaner, more detailed sound than my old Bluetooth speaker and the option to expand into a multiroom or stereo setup is a real plus. I’d recommend it to anyone who values sound quality and build in a compact package and who either uses or is willing to try the HEOS ecosystem. Knowing that Airplay 2 is an option helps a lot though. The price is not the cheapest option for casual listeners, but if you plan to make this part of a larger setup it might be worth it.
