    Great for the price
Definitely a better sound than the onboard microphones. Not stereo, but for my purposes for this I don’t require a stereo microphone.I had a bit of an issue initially determining whether my camera even would power it – since I had conflicting searches online about whether the Canon EOS R50 would power from the aux jack rather than from the shoe. I kept finding sites telling me it would not, but it clearly IS powering this one.You can see the difference with and without this on when recording someone talking. Just a better, cleaner sound. For the price? Outstanding. I just wanted an improvement without spending much money. This did just that.

    Works Well, Very Light Weight
SUMMARY• Good audio• Light weight• Phone compatiblePRODUCT INFO and PACKAGINGThe product came as expected and was packaged well. The instructions were clearly written. Operation was easy: set the switch for phone or camera, plug it in, and it is ready to go.AUDIOI reviewed this mic in a video on my YouTube channel, and the audio quality clearly indicates that it does a good job of capturing the sound clearly. It was slightly superior to the camera on-body microphones, and as compared to the built in mics of the iPhone 8 Plus, it was vastly superior. One noteworthy aspect is that it claims to be a condenser microphone. According to the Shure website and all my life’s experience, condenser mics require a power supply to operate the circuitry. This mic uses no batteries. If it is, indeed, a condenser mic, I cannot imagine where the power comes from.Nevertheless, it is:1.) sensitive2.) essentially noise free, and it3.) accurately reproduces the audio.Again, the video clearly indicates this as it is tested against built-in mics and another shotgun mic.PHONE AND CAMERA USEPerhaps the feature that most impressed me is that it is compatible with phones. Its plug is a four conductor plug, just like those on mic/earbud sets. Thus, (when the mic is switched to camera mode) it works with my iPhone (I have a lightning to headphone jack adapter; see photo. The audio quality of the mic was far better than the built-in audio. It is extremely light, so this will make it a good candidate for vlogging purposes. It will also work well on light tripods.I can easily be mounted using either the cold-shoe or the standard threading: it will mount to the flash bracket or a standard tripod screw.OVERALLMy only concern is durability. Apart from the screw on the bottom, it is entirely made of hard plastic. While care of use should result in a long life, I am left to wonder how it will hold up.It will not replace my current condenser mic in most situation, but it will definitely be part of my daily use items. As I produce videos for YouTube, it will be my go-to audio solution when filming on the iPhone. It will, in fact, open a new facet of video wherein I walk and talk relying on the iPhone’s light weight and built in image stabilization. I will probably locate an attachment accessory for my DJI Osmo Mobile that I can use to attach this mic.

Good, but maybe not on all cameras..?
Overall the mic seems to work good. So far I have tested it on a Hc-V7700, a Vixia Hf R500 and a Samsung Galaxy S9 plus. I can say when It worked it was better than the built in mics on these devices. Talking sounded Bassier and more true to life, and the mic didn’t seem overly sensitive to direction. Meaning if it was a couple of degrees high or low to the subject I didn’t notice huge sound quality reduction. Notice less camera hum and background noise while using it.The problem I ran into is on one of my cameras (Hf R500) the mic didn’t work at all whether set to Camera Mode or Phone mode. I don’t think this is the Mics fault though, I think it’s possible that that camera doesn’t have a pre amp in it for the mic and thereby needs one that is powered. That actually does bring me to one of the big advantages this mic has… Running without batteries… I bought a good external mic awhile ago for my YouTube channel but after a few tries I gave up using it. The problem I kept running into was either forgetting to switch the mic on, or the batteries dying…This killed me as I lost hours of footage by doing this… The fact that this mic requires no batteries and just is plug and play is great. I see myself much more likely to use this mic as I don’t need to worry about that with it.Otherwise the mic seems okay build quality wise, I wouldn’t call it rugged by any means but by itself I could see it handling a few drops but that is mainly because of how light it is. Otherwise if you drop it while attached to a heavy camera which lands a top it, I think chances of something getting snapped is probably pretty high. The fact that this camera includes no amp built in though and the rather simple light design I would hope to see it priced more around $25-30 instead of $40 but that may just be me. One thing to consider is this does sound better than some $80 externals I’ve played with so I guess it comes down to the price being overall okay but not anything better. One last thing, the first one I got was defective and the company replaced it without issue.

    Clear Sound Upgrade
I’m honestly so happy I picked the COMICA CVM‑V30 LITE Video Microphone. I wanted something simple that would instantly improve my video audio without a complicated setup, and this did exactly that. It plugged right into my camera and phone with no fuss, and the sound quality was noticeably clearer and more focused right away. Voices come through crisp, and it really cuts down on background noise, which makes my recordings sound so much more professional. ([device.report][1])I also love how lightweight and compact it is. It fits perfectly on my camera without feeling bulky, and I can take it anywhere in my bag. The shock mount helps keep handling noise down, and the fact that it doesn’t need batteries makes it super convenient for quick shoots. For the price, this feels like such a great value. It’s reliable, easy to use, and gave my videos the clean audio upgrade I was hoping for. Definitely one of those purchases I’m glad I made.

    Hot garbage. Don’t buy.
This microphone is garbage. Do not waste your time with it. It doesn’t work on any camera or mixer I have tried it with.

I am a YouTube content creator and for me, sound quality is the most important thing when I am shooting videos. This shotgun microphone is an upgrade for me as I already own the VM10-K2 kit. Below are the five takeaways:- The microphone is versatile and adapts to phones or cameras with a very convenient switch at the back of the device- The super-cardioid pattern and low self-noise feature makes it perfect for podcasting, vlogging or, interviews- It is lightweight yet the material has a nice quality- The frequency range is wide enough to capture subtle sound details- The design is elegant and the price is very competitiveIn case you want to buy this mic for a cellphone, you should consider a microphone kit as well to complement your purchase. I would recommend this microphone for people doing podcasting, vlogging, content creators, interviews. It will definitely help you improve your sound quality big time. This gets my seal of approval!
