Awesome audio upgrade for my setup (Ambience Videos)
I couldn’t be happier with the Sennheiser MKE 200! Pairing this compact, directional microphone with my Insta360 Ace Pro 2 has elevated my audio quality to a whole new level. It’s ideal for vloggers and creators who demand clear, focused sound, especially when filming on the go.A few standout features:Crystal-clear, focused sound: The super-cardioid directional capsule ensures your voice stands out, while reducing background noise. It truly isolates and enhances what you want to hear.Wind and handling noise reduction: The built-in wind protection and internal shock mount do an impressive job of cleaning up audio, even when filming outdoors or moving around. Add the included furry windshield for even more wind resistance.Build quality and ease of use: Its sleek, compact design is perfect for mobile shooting. It’s essentially plug-and-play, so you can focus on capturing content, not fiddling with gear. Why it’s a perfect match for the Ace Pro 2:While the Ace Pro 2’s internal microphone and built-in windscreen are helpful for casual videos, the MKE 200 adds a polished, professional touch that stands out. As noted in expert reviews, for serious content creation you’ll want an external mic, and the MKE 200 fits beautifully into that workflow.Overall, this is one of the best audio upgrades I’ve made for my setup. Whether you’re capturing fast-paced outdoor action or talking head footage indoors, the Sennheiser MKE 200 consistently delivers. Highly recommended!

Great microphone, but requires adapter to connect to modern phones
This is a very high quality microphone and does a great job. My only complaint is that it only comes with 3.5mm TRS and TRRS cables. Those are great if you are using a dedicated audio device with that type of jack, but my goal was to use it with my iPhone, which had a lightning port. Luckily, I found the Movo IMA-1 Female 3.5mm TRRS Microphone Adapter Cable to Lightning Connector, which allowed the mic to be used as an input device (note: I tried two other adapters, but the Movo was the only one that worked!). Sennheiser should include at least one cable for smartphones. There are a lot of people using their phones to make videos or recordings needing an external mic. Having everything you need in the box would be much better!

    Pretty Impressive
Right off the bat, I gotta say that the audio is pretty thin with this hotrod. If you’re using it in a live setting, you might be disappointed. But if you’re gonna edit the video, all you gotta do is tweak a little EQ to your liking, and this mic becomes perfect. It’s the perfect size to mount on an action camera – but I noticed with mine that with the dead cat on and mounted on top of the camera, you can see it in the frame. But with a cage on my DJI Action 4, I can mount the mic on the side, and then the dead cat is out of frame. The best part about this mic is that there’s no ugly shock mount. The cylindrical part of the mic is actually a blimp, and the shock mount is inside of there. Such a perfect design. If you need something with more punch right out of the gate, go with the Sennheiser MKE 400. It’s considerably bigger, but that’s the way it goes. If you need something very small and sleek, get this one.

Nice, on-camera mic for reference and close-in work. Also good for capturing ambient sound.
A little shy on the lower frequencies but otherwise a good mic for compact, camera-top use. One can add to the bass frequencies in post production; too much bass can actually be more of a problem to clean up (so I like this balance and use this on-camera mic for a backup reference track).

Great for speaking, awful for live music
Purchased this mic to record some live presentations in a large meeting room setting. It works great for this purpose. Dialogue is clear and much improved over the built in mic on my Canon dslr. Mic was about 25 ft away from the presenters and it worked just fine. Wireless clip on mics would have been better I’m sure but I also wanted to capture audience questions and comments.Thought I’d try to use it to record some live music. In a smaller room setting with a solo violin connected to an iPhone 16 pro, the audio sounds as if the mic is underwater and then clear and then underwater and so on. I don’t think this mic can handle the dynamic contrast and different violin frequencies in this setting. The built in mic on the iphone is far superior in this setting, though not high quality enough to use the recordings for their intended purpose.

    Sound is extremely low
Just got the microphone and sound is extremely low, to the point it’s unusable.I need to almost touch the microphone with my mouth to be able to hear my self.I am currently trying to troubleshoot. Already tried both cables included.

This mic picks up my voice spot on. I love the overall design and engineering. Cuts out the wind, does very well out fits and the size is not overwhelming. I find it more compact then the Movo or the rode Mini mics, sounds better too.

The initial mic sent had an issue picking up sound and it was not their fault. They happily exchanged it and I got to tell you, this mic is solid. It is well built and picks up sound really well. I ordered a second one for my cell as I now use the Sony ZV-1 to vlog.
