Good Hardware and Remote, but Reliability and Software Support Fall Short
This Android TV box makes a strong first impression thanks to its compact, lightweight build and attractive design. It comes well-equipped with a full selection of connectors—HDMI, USB, AV, Ethernet, and more—and even includes an HDMI cable in the box. The remote is thoughtfully designed, Bluetooth-enabled (so you don’t need to aim it), and features a built-in microphone for Google Assistant, which works well for voice commands.The box also has an IR receiver, which in theory is a plus for flexibility. However, it picks up signals from my Samsung TV’s IR remote, especially the volume buttons. This means adjusting my TV’s volume also changes the box’s volume, which is more confusing than helpful. I solved this by pointing the TV box away from my seat, but this means I can’t see its front display showing the time and WiFi status.Setup is fairly standard and straightforward for an Android TV device. However, I did encounter a hiccup when authenticating to my Google account: the process would fail unless I rebooted the box first. After that, things proceeded normally, but it’s an extra step that could trip up less tech-savvy users.Software-wise, the device runs Android 13 TV OS and has access to the Google Play Store, but not all apps work correctly. For example, Xfinity Stream installed and logged in but showed no content—only a “back” arrow and a “cast” button. This app works fine on other Android devices I own, so this appears to be a compatibility issue unique to this box.Performance varies: sometimes the box is very fast, other times it slows down considerably, especially during network-heavy tasks, even though my WiFi is solid. Also, if you change HDMI decoder settings, those changes only take effect after a reboot—a detail not mentioned anywhere, which led to some unnecessary troubleshooting. The screen also occasionally turns off during playback, though it stays on reliably in the main menu.All these software, compatibility, and performance issues seem like they could be addressed with a firmware update. Unfortunately, the last update is from late 2024, and there’s no sign of ongoing support. This lack of updates is a significant downside for a product with so many quirks.On the positive side, the box is affordable and delivers great video quality when it’s working properly, so it can be a good value for those willing to deal with some troubleshooting and occasional workarounds.As an aside, when linking to my Google account, the device identified itself as a Google Pixel 5, which is another oddity that hints at some underlying software strangeness.Bottom line:This TV box has strong hardware, a convenient Bluetooth remote, and great video quality for the price. However, recurring software bugs, app compatibility gaps, and the lack of firmware support make reliability an issue. If you’re on a budget, mainly use mainstream apps, and don’t mind a little troubleshooting, it might still fit your needs. Otherwise, you might want to look for a more polished and actively supported alternative.

I was actually surprised about this, It’s very easy to set up, it comes with the cables you need to set it up, The quality is very good, it is a little laggy but it’s to be expected, the voice control works just great, the channels are good to scroll through. The remote is very fun to use, and the devise is supper easy to add channels and other app’s to it, it works well with WiFi, but it works even better when it’s connected directly to the Ethernet cable, You have to understand that this devise is an Android and it’s a new system, so it’s going to be slower than a fire stick, but it works very much like it. And for how much it cost, it is very well worth it.
