Great Sound Bar, Terrible Instructions
Guys I am tech savvy, okay? I can set the clock on any kitchen appliance, I can use computer operating systems that aren’t Windows. I understand these things. If Philips could have just given me like two more words for pairing the subwoofer, that’s all I needed. It’s all just pictograms, which is fine except you hook both devices up and they’re flashing white lights. The instructions just say ‘solid white’. That’s it, that’s all it says. Not ‘tap button and lights will turn solid’, not ‘hold pair button until light turns solid white’, just…solid white. So I pressed the button, nothing happened. I checked the sound bar, the light was flashing over the Bluetooth logo, so that was probably right. I gave the button a longer press, like three seconds? Nothing happened. I waited, pairing can take a minute, nothing. Okay, I’ll hold the button. I held the button. Solid white. Wonderful.I understand we are trying to save money where we can, but that’s ridiculous. ‘Hold button until solid white’, that’s it, just say that. Anyway.Looks nice enough, sounds great. Subwoofer adds a little punch, I like that it’s wireless so you can put it wherever. If you hook up to HDMI ARC you can control with your TV’s remote, which is great because I don’t like the remote that came with it at all. You can also hang it if you want, but my TV is right over a shelf of sorts so no problem.Recommended for sure, just remember: solid white.

A good cheap sound system for the tech literate
Part I The DocumentationI have bought headphones with more documentation than this TV sound system. The instructions treat this very much like a plug-and-play device which it very much is not. You get a sheet on how to hang the sound bar on the wall, a sheet on safety, and a little booklet that lists out everything that comes in the box and very basic instructions (I’m reminded of that ‘draw the rest of the owl’ comic); plug in soundbar; pair speaker, turn on television, etc..Actually setting this up to your TV involves connecting to the correct port on the TV and enabling some befuddling features. Obviously Phillips doesn’t know what TV I’m using but a simple note to ‘see your TV’s manual’ would have helped steer me in the right direction. It took two people troubleshooting and googling to get the system to produce sound. From what I remember some of the settings I needed to change were enabling PCM (so that the TV could better communicate with the soundbar) and Bravia, telling the TV to use the sound bar (obviously) and then turning up the output device volume (a setting buried in the device manager). This is normally a product where I would say ‘read the instructions carefully’ but without those instructions you really need to be tech literate to get this sound bar to work at all. A lot of information was found through googling the television model number but at least one setting was identified strictly through careful trial and error.Part II The packagingThe sound bar arrived at my house in the product box, an L-shaped box with a shipping label slapped on it. Luckily I was home so it didn’t spend a lot of time on the porch. The product comes with power cables for the speaker and sound bar but no cable to connect to the TV so you’ll need to have your own HDMI cable. Also included are mounting screws.Part III ThoughtsThe sound is nice, definitely superior to the TV speakers for music. It was annoying to set up but for the price it’s a significant improvement. You’ll need a television that’s compatible with e/ARC and make sure to plug it into the correct HDMI port. When I ordered this I thought it was something much smaller that I could use with my PC so it arrived at my house without a guaranteed home. The best thing I can say about it is that I’m probably going to find space to keep it.

It works, but do not expect awesome sound.
Philips B4500 2.1 Channel Soundbar. Purchased for $59. First off it did not come with an HDMI cable, stupid. Easy to set up, . Luckily i didn’t need instructions because the one that came with the unit was worthless.Sound: the sound is ok, much better than the built in speakers. I had to turn the highs all the way down, bass all the way up and set it to movie sound to make them sound ok. These work for my needs…. small lower living room and watching basic TV. If your looking for a system to watch movies with some great sound and bass, these will definitely disappoint you. Bass it best is minimal. 3 stars because it works, sounds better than tv and was only $59. Not the greatest sound.

Delivers Surprisingly Good Sound for Small Rooms – Connects Easily
This Philips B4500 soundbar is a great option for smaller rooms. For its compact size, it delivers surprisingly good sound, and the subwoofer adds nice depth without overpowering the space. The sound quality feels well balanced, especially considering the price.Setup was quick, and it’s very easy to use. It connects smoothly to my TV and pairs easily with Bluetooth on my iPhone, which makes streaming music simple. It is lightweight and portable. I can move it from room to room without any hassle. We connect it to our projector when watching movies. My son uses it in the exercise area while working out. My daughter loves to listen to music on it. This is an affordable, user-friendly soundbar that offers solid performance, good connectivity, and great value for the size and price.

Horrible
The volume of this set is very low. The bass is almost non-existent. My TV’s sound quality is far superior and louder without this unit. Not worth any price to pay for.
