Its a beautiful bulb!
These bulbs are fantastic and look so nice. I love the light they emit and the colors are very vivid. Highly recommend for bedside or lamps.

Better than the rest. At a price.
Have these as accent lights over a set of bedroom nightstands. While more expensive than other brands the physical style and flexibility of the Hue app is unmatched by other brands.If you are using a blended environment for smart home controls this will work with a Hue Hub or a Honey Pro. It can be exposed to Google and Apple HomeKit. If you want all the Hue features though you will want a Hue hub.Home automation is still a convoluted and overly complex world, but these lights really are a delight once programmed and working. They’ve been dead reliable whichever home automation app I use. That’s saying a lot as in the same room I have four “smart” window blinds that constantly lose connection and disappear.As far as color and brightness goes, I wouldn’t use these as primary lights. But as an accent light or a bedroom nightstands lamp they are more than adequate. They respond nearly instantly to changes down via both smart switches and phone apps. The color variances are a fun bit of fluff but for me are more gimmick than practical daily feature (how often do you want a purple bedroom)? That said the daylight shifting feature where with either the Hue App or HomeKit the color can shift according to the time of day is a very nice feature.So this feels like a case of getting what you pay for. Highly recommend and would buy again if the need arises.

The price on this is seriously eye watering but man is it impressive to have this edison style light with color change features. It’s bigger than your average bulb and it’s by no means a task light. But if you just need a dim mood it’s got you covered

Beautiful glass bulb with stunning colors
Another fantastic Hue product! This Lightguide Ellipse is gorgeous and really stands out. The large glass bulb has a timeless design that blends old-school charm with a futuristic feel. It’s bright, the colors are brilliant, and it works seamlessly with the Hue Sync box and all the Hue features. I used it to replace a fan fixture, and it looks absolutely stunning. The fact that it’s hand-blown glass is just the cherry on top. Definitely a five-star light!

Aesthetically pleasing but dim and overpriced.
So the Philips Hue Lightguide is definitely a looker. For starters, it’s huge. I’d say it’s probably 30% larger than standard Hue bulbs, so keep that in mind if you’re using it in a standard lamp instead of an uncovered hanging fixture which is what it’s ostensibly designed for. The clear, Edison-like design makes it stand out, especially if you’re using it in an open or transparent fixture where you can really show it off.That being said, the light output is pretty disappointing for a bulb its size (600 lumens) and this could be a problem if you’re expecting it to really light up a space. Also, it’s fairly expensive for what you get, especially when there are other Hue bulbs that perform better for significantly less. However, if you’re looking for an Edison-style bulb but also want the ability for colored lighting, your options are extremely limited and Philips clearly knows this.If you’re all about aesthetics and want a bulb that looks great even when it’s off, the Lightguide is a solid choice. But if you need something bright and budget-friendly, you will want to keep looking.
