almost perfect 👌
POWERFUL POWERFUL BRIGHT BUT BATTERY WHEN USING OVER 50 PERFECT DIES IN LESS THAN AN HOUR BUT MOST OF THE TIME I USE IT ONLY AT 10 TO 30 PERCENT SO I CAN MORE USE OUT OF IT…2 IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED FOR PERFECTION:1. BIGGER BATTERY MORE USE AT HIGHER PERCENTAGE POWER2. LED DISPLAY NEEDS TO BE ON BACK IN FULL VIEW NOT ON TOP..ENJOY RECOMMEND WITH THOSE CAVIOTS IN MIND

Amazing little on cam light.
Super bright, love the fx options, haven’t fully tested the battery life but it’s a pretty robust build and small rig always delivers so there’s no complaints there. It’s very easy to charge/power up/off. Very portable, great value for the cash. Highly recommended

The Little Light That Could
The SmallRig RM40C punches well above its weight for such a compact light. The RGB options are vibrant, the interface is refreshingly intuitive, and it adds instant production value to any setup from quick vlogs for YouTube.That said, the battery life feels like it skipped leg day. You’ll get solid performance, but don’t expect marathon sessions without plugging in. And at higher brightness levels, the fan kicks in with a noticeable hum, not a dealbreaker, but definitely audible in quieter environments.Overall, it’s a bright, versatile little workhorse that just needs a stronger stamina bar. Solid 4/5.Also, the faceplate could use a little tweak for staying on, its magnetic and sometimes I grab it and it just comes off, I nearly dropped it a few times.

Powerful 40 Watts!
This thing is powerful, I got a really good deal on the price. The battery last accordingly with how much output this has. I just would have love if it gave me the time until it will be depleted. The on/off button should be in another place or easier to view. ON position should be up, not down… simple, like a light switch. I dont like to turn a wheel to fully turn on. Just give me a bigger switch to turn on. it feels good in the hands, very portable and sturdy. Other color options could be cool, like silver, white or red.

Powerrrrr
SMALLRIG 40W LEDAt full power, the battery lasts about 42 minutes, which is fine for short shoots but limiting for longer sessions. The fan is quite loud, similar to a small portable AC, so keep that in mind if recording audio nearby.The body is fully plastic, so it feels lightweight but not very durable. It also tends to overheat if used at full power for extended periods.Overall, tons of light output in a compact package, with a few trade offs in noise, heat, and build quality.

Ho acquistato questo faretto di Smallrig da 40W, incuriosito dalla suo rapporto peso / potenza e alla compattezza, rispetto alla serie piu’ grande da 60W e da 100W.Lo scopo era quello di utilizarlo in accoppiata al gimbal, dove il peso è tutto e vale la pena? Assolutamente si.La prima cosa che salta all’occhio e’ la sua semplicità d’uso.Tutte le funzioni sono racchiuse in tre tasti:- una potenziometro per il controllo dei valori;- il tasto di accensione;- il tasto di selezione delle 3 modalità;Tutte le informazioni sono racchiuse in un display semplice e chiaro. Zero menu’ da cui bisogna entrare e uscire per regolare le stesse funzioni.- Ricarica: avviene tramite la presa USB-C e il faretto puo’ essere utilizzato anche durante la ricarica (manna dal cielo se si pensa alla quantità di alimentatori con attacchi proprietari che vengono realizzati, anche dalla stessa Smallrig). Durante la ricarica rimarrà attiva la ventola di dissipazione che aiuta a mantenere fresco il dispositivo;- Bi-Color (2700K – 6500K) e RGB: la temperatura colore puo’ essere regolata a proprio piacimento sia nella potenza che nel valore, indispensabile per non dover utilizzare le gelatine colorate. La scelta dei colore e’ molto ampia ed e’ particolarmente utile in tutte quelle situazioni in cui si vuole utilizzare il faretto come luce di riempimento o come principale;- Ventola di raffreddamento: essendo un faretto con grande capacità in un corpo piccolo, la ventola si attiva anche a bassissima potenza, variando la velocità a seconda dell’intensità, ma prevale la velocità massima su buona parte del range. È comunque silenziosa, ma potrebbe dare leggero fastidio nel caso si registri l’audio con un microfono vicino alla luce;- Autonomia: alla massima potenza, la batteria dura circa 50 minuti e la possibilità di essere utilizzato durante la ricarica, lo rende uno strumento fantastico, rispetto ad altri faretti che in carica si spengono;- Contenuto: insieme al faretto viene fornito il suo diffusore opaco con attacco magnetico e uno con trama a nido d’ape;

It’s incredibly bright for its size, and smallrig seems to have fixed the fan noise issue from the previous model. This one increases the fan speed based on the power so if it’s set at a lower brightness there is very little fan noise. The magnets are strong enough to hold the modifiers, the back magnet could’ve been a bit stronger it can barely support the light but it’s not a big issue. The effects are pretty adjustable and the colors are very saturated. Setting the hue doesn’t feel linear as sometimes even a 1 degree adjustment changes a lot of color and sometimes it doesn’t change anything. But I was able to create the colors I want so at the end of the day just a small inconvenience. Battery life seems good and it lasts quite a while. Definitely worth the price and I’m glad I have this light.

This is a review of the 40w Smallrig RM 40C LED RGB Light.I have been back and forth between brands, looking for a small, but powerful pocket light, I already have a few by Ulanzi (Bi colour), Zhyiun (20w RGB) just to name a couple. I wanted something brighter, better battery life, RGB with magnetic attachments and Smallrig have ticked all those boxes with this light.Although this has some cons/flaws too, I do highly recommend this, it’s a great little light but not perfect!As a photographer, we tend to chase light, so I am still chasing the perfect light ;)I will be buying another to have as a pair.Pros- It’s small/compact, you can put this in a pocket (more of an inside jacket pocket).- Great battery life with 4800mAh it lasts around 55 mins at 100%, but can be used with a power bank.- Easy controls (there is one con though, see below).- It comes with magnetic grid and diffuser panel within the pack, some manufacturers have this as an extra bundle.- Magnetic mount (as well as a 1/4″20 screw hole), the magnetic mount is also in the con section for not being strong enough.- The fan seems to do a good job at keeping the entire unit cool, others seem to make a lot of noise, but not actually do much in terms of cooling the light down.Cons- A little on the heavier side than others, but that maybe down to the bigger battery and magnet on the back (although this isn’t powerful enough, the weight of the light starts to drag it down whereever you place it vertically).- It’s small & compact but it’s still a little bit bigger (chunkier) than I was expecting.- Although the controls are easy to navigate, the main wheel controls the RGB colour as default, to select brightnesssyou have to click the wheel twice then scroll for the brightness increments, I find this too fiddly, it should have it’s own brightness control like every other light I own.- Fan can be noisy if you are doing video work, but this is to be expected, when do you hear a quiet fan?.- No app to control the light.
