It does it's job well

It does it's job well
I bought this USA Gear photography backpack a month ago. I wanted to use it for a while before I wrote a review on it so I know how well it works in the real world after it is broken in a little bit. I have been very pleased with it’s performance. The zippers are very easy to zip, the pockets are very accessible, and it fits in well with my life of multitasking. The build quality is good especially for the price I paid for it. I have only owned it for a month, but I plan on having it for a long time. I am happy with the compartments in the bag. One for lenses and bodies with separators to keep contents secure, and a completely separate compartment for other goods like extra batteries, a book or journal, snacks, your hard drive, or really anything else. It is completely closed off from the part that holds my expensive stuff which I really appreciate. The laptop compartment is perfectly placed and very easy to access. I use a 15 inch laptop and it fits with plenty of room to spare, although I don’t think a 17 inch laptop would fit. The small zipped compartment on the front of the bag is just large enough to hold a couple memory cards and a USB drive which works very well. I am a relatively new photographer and don’t have as much gear as other photographers that I know, so this smaller compartment for cameras and lenses works well for me. I carry 3-4 lenses in this bag and one body. There isn’t much extra space unless you are willing to have some of the gear move around since there aren’t any extra dividers that come with the bag. The bag seems to resist moisture pretty well, but in case of emergencies, it does come with a rain cover. It seems easy enough to access, but I have not tried to pack it back into it’s storage compartment. The bottle holder or tripod holder on the side of the bag seems to work well for small tripods, but not well for most water bottles. I have to clip my water bottle to the tripod holder strap to make sure it doesn’t fall out each time I pick up or put down the bag. What I do not like is the amount of separators in the camera compartment. I would appreciate more of them so that I could customize the space more. Also, as I buy better gear, I will buy a bag that has more pitch, or is deeper. I have a small crop body now and it fits just fine, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable keeping a Nikon D5 in there. Again, it works just fine for mine and almost every other camera, but I would prefer a deeper compartment. Another negative is the straps. The bag has straps that buckle around your hips which make long hikes very nice on your shoulders. However, most of the time, I am carrying this bag for no more than 30 minutes and don’t feel the need to buckle those straps. There is no way to detach these and they are very long, so they dangle pretty low. Overall, I am very pleased with this bag. It has lived up and exceeded my expectations especially for the price I paid for it. It seems to do it’s job just as well or better than comparable bags that are 2-3 times more expensive.

I had looked at a few bags locally before deciding on this one. I needed a good camera bag and I needed it hold a lot of stuff. I don't always need it to be a back pack, but I liked the feature and the option to have it hold my tripod seemed excellent.
So now that it has arrived and I've looked it over, this is a really nice quality bag. It's going to last me a really long time. I read another review that said it was poorly constructed and I just don't agree. The materials is sturdy, the zippers are well made and the straps are strong. It's not military grade durable by any stretch of the imagination, but it's as much or more than I expected it to be at this price.
Personally, I'm not going to use this bag for hiking very often, and If I did, I might opt for something smaller that could carry less. This bag can carry a lot of stuff, including a laptop, so its a little bit larger than the typical hiking camera pack.
The design is just about perfect. It holds a lot of stuff and the compartments are very functional. I looked at a few bags that had compartments that I will simply never use. I'll have a use for all the compartments in this bag. They didn't put pockets into it just for the sake of doing so, as some of the other bag companies have done. I was concerned that the laptop carrying compartment might take up too much room, but they did a good job with that. If you don't use the laptop pouch, you won't notice its there. Another reviewer commented that they could have done a better job securing the camera compartment. I would agree that it they could have padded it better, but I'm not planning on throwing this bag around, so its not a concern to me. If I did plan on the bag getting tossed around, I wouldn't pick this bag.
About the tripod holder. My tripod is a sunpak 7000TM, which is on the larger & heavier side of medium-sized tripods. This bag holds it fine, but probably wouldn't hold much larger of a tripod. That being said, it holds it very well, and it isn't hard to take out or put back in, and the bag isn't grossly off balanced. I had considered a bag with straps at the bottom of the bag for the tripod so that the balance would be better. The side-carrying design of this bag, now that I've used it, is much better and makes the bag easier to store when your not carrying it around.
Overall, I'd recommend it highly, absolutely deserving of 5 stars. If you are looking for a heavy duty, "throw it off a cliff and know that you're camera is still fine" kinda bag, this one isn't for you and you should be ready to pay more money. If you're looking for a bag that will hold all of your stuff, that's easy to carry around and perfect for a hiking trail, I'd go with this one.

I had my eye on this bag for a long while. Once I decided to pull the trigger on my camera purchase (Lumix G7), I decided to get a bag to go with it.
Being the bargain hunter I am, at the last second I saw an Amazon recommendation for half the price. I went that route, and returned it the next day. You truly do get what you pay for here.
I purchased this instead, following my original thought. Glad to say this is everything I need. Quality material, PLENTY of storage space for odds and ends like cables and memory cards, and enough space to fit my laptop I use to edit pics (15" Dell).
It may seem a bit pricey up front, but so far it's a perfect fit for my needs. Plus, the camera storage compartments are great and customizable for your gear. I'll see how it holds up out and about in life once the pandemic is settled down, and if there's a huge difference I'll submit a separate review. As of now, I really enjoy this bag and feel like you won't be disappointed.
UPDATE: took a trip to Washington D.C., and got to put some miles on this thing. It was flawless for the trip, and so comfortable I barely noticed carrying it around. Later in the year I'll probably be doing more intense hiking with it, but for trekking a couple miles per day in D.C. this was a winner. I see a lot of reviews knocking the durability/quality, but in my light use so far I've had zero issues. Even if just to start or a secondary bag, I really do recommend this one.
UPDATE 2: This has now been in three different countries with me, and maybe 8 U.S. states. Can confirm it's very much worth it. This comes with me any time I'm on an airplane.

No kidding, this bag is easily the best deal I have found on Amazon in several years. The price is no indication of its quality or usefulness. It is definitely a VERY quality product. Allow me to clarify:
    Storage:
Large top, shelf-like storage compartment. I keep a set of Cokin filters, a bag of GoPro accessories, and a camera cleaning kit in there. The only issue I have had with the bag comes from this compartment, and that is because I filled it to the extreme and tried to zip it closed, and subsequently ripped a part of the lining holding the zipper onto the bag. No worries. A few stiches and it was good as new.
The main compartment is easily organizable according to your needs. I keep a large body Nikon, and four mid-size lenses in there, no problem. I still have a few corners that don't have anything in them.
The side zipper pocket I don't use much, but it's nice just the same.
    Modular design:
The back of the bag has a nice mesh material that is only connected to the bag on the corners, leaving a small gap between it and the rest of the backpack. The straps can be unhooked and shoved down in this little compartment, thus making the bag a perfect rectangle. This is great for packing it in a suitcase, for instance.
For carrying, I typically only use the bag on one shoulder, so I keep the other strap tucked away, which is convenient. You can also make this bag into a messenger bag-type, using a sling over the shoulder with one strap. (This is probably how the side pocket is designed to be used)
There is a decent sized small pocket on the right upper side of the bag. I keep a remote shutter/intervalometer in there.
    Summary:
The bag is simply worth every penny, and then some. It works well, is sturdy and reliable, feels great, and gets the job done. I wouldn't bother paying more money for expensive bags with brand names when this one does it all.
I would definitely buy another one if I ever had the need.

Was looking for a decent sized bag that wouldn't be huge or tiny. This one struck the right balance.
Can fit my body with the added battery grip with 5 lenses.
Loved the side zipper where you can just grab something without putting the camera on the ground.
Overall is a very nice bag, sturdy with plenty of space and protection. And most importantly is not as big as some other brands keeping a nice balance between size and practicality.
It is also priced decently for such quality. I refuse to believe that other major competitor big name brands in the market that charge 400CAD for a camera bag would be so much better.

I was very happy when I first got this bag. It fitted everything I wanted for traveling. However, (although it comes with a rain cover) the material and zippers are not very water resistant, and as I am going to Scotland where it rains a lot, I decided to buy a waterproof bag. I am going to hold on to the bag though and may revisit it in the future as it is slightly bigger than my new waterproof one.
