Why are keys like Page Up/Down integrated into the numpad, requiring NUM-Lock to be off to use them?
This 95-key compact layout retains the numeric keypad while reducing size. NUM-Lock toggles each key between number entry and navigation (e.g. PgUp), maintaining full function. For frequent navigation, keep NUM-Lock off when not entering numbers.
Why does the wireless receiver (dongle) need to be used with a cable instead of plugging directly into the computer?
To achieve wireless 4K polling (4000Hz), a specialized receiver is used with its extension cable, as standard dongles max out at 125Hz. This ensures stable performance, reduces interference, and allows flexible placement.
Why does pressing the volume knob open the settings menu instead of muting?
The knob is a multi-function controller, not solely for volume. A short press activates the quick settings menu on the LCD for adjusting lighting, volume etc. This design centralizes control of key functions for efficiency.
The tilt angle isn’t enough. Can it be adjusted?
The keyboard has a two-stage adjustable kickstand. The initial ~5° tilt can be increased to ~8° (Stage 1) or ~11° (Stage 2) for a more pronounced angle and stable support. Choose the stage that suits you best.
For gaming in low-light conditions, how should I set up the backlight for better visibility?
Optimize settings in CHERRY UTILITY: 1. Use “Custom” mode to highlight keys like WASD; 2. Lower brightness to ~25% to improve legend contrast; 3. Choose a single color (e.g., white) to reduce distraction. This enhances visual focus and usability.

Great Tri-Mode Mechanical Keyboard with Knob and Cherry MX2A Switches
It’s got that 98-key layout (compact but with numpad and arrows), gasket mount for a soft, bouncy feel when typing or gaming. The Cherry MX2A Brown switches are smooth and tactile without being too loud, perfect for both work and play. Hot-swappable too, so easy to change switches later if I want. The knob is handy for volume or scrolling through stuff quickly. Tri-mode connectivity (2.4G wireless, Bluetooth, wired USB) works great, no lag on the 2.4G or wired, and Bluetooth pairs fast to my tablet. 8K Hz polling on 2.4G makes everything feel super responsive in games. RGB lighting is customizable via software (or FN keys), looks sharp but not over-the-top.PBT keycaps feel durable and grippy, with no shine yet after heavy use. Battery life seems solid so far, lasts days of mixed use without needing a charge.A few small things: Software is basic but functional, and the keycaps have a slight texture that might take getting used to if you’re coming from slick ones. No major issues, though. If you’re after a feature-packed mechanical with high polling, good switches, and wireless options without spending premium money, this PIXIU 98 is a solid choice. Feels premium for what it is.

Didn’t Expect to Love This Keyboard This Much
Yeah… this one surprised me in the best way. This is hands down my new favorite keyboard!I’ve used a bunch of mechanical boards over the years, including the Corsair K70, Redragon K556, a basic Wegear mechanical keyboard, and the Razer Huntsman Elite. This one just feels better than all of them. The keystrokes are clicky, but not obnoxiously loud. It’s noticeably quieter than the Corsair and Razer boards, but still super satisfying to type on. There’s something about the way the keys bottom out that just feels smooth and solid. Typing on it is honestly fun, and since I work in IT, it’s nice having a keyboard I can use to write SOPs, do some light coding, and actually enjoy the process. The RGB looks great without being over the top, and I’ve kinda settled on the pulse mode. There are lots of modes overall, the lighting is clean, and it looks good on a desk without screaming “gamer.” Wireless is where this really shines though. Setup was painless, my PC recognized it immediately, and switching between modes is easy. It arrived around 80 percent charged, which was a nice touch.I didn’t think I’d like the more compact layout, but I got used to it fast. Now I actually prefer it. It fits perfectly in my keyboard slide-out without feeling cramped or like anything important is missing. The volume know is also really nice. On some of my other keyboards if you twist the knob slowly or too fast, the volume just gets a little wonky… It might go up, might go down, might not do anything at all. With this one, the adjustment is solid and if you spin it quickly, the volume follows as it should, which is super nice.Build quality feels premium. I actually handed it to my wife because I was surprised by how heavy it is. Battery life has been excellent so far, and everything about it feels well thought out. This is one of those rare upgrades where you immediately notice the difference. If you’re on the fence, I was too. I’m glad I pulled the trigger.

Oh-so-close to Perfect, But Not Quite
I have only one major qualm with this keyboard, but it is (to me) pretty significant, and it’s the only thing holding it back from 5 stars: the backlight is just not bright enough. Even at the 100% brightness level, it just seems very muted and doesn’t illuminate much of anything. The end result: if you’re in a low-light setting, as I almost always am when using my PC, there is NO way to see which key is which. I’m not sure whether this is the LED elements themselves, the design of the key caps, or a combination of the two…regardless, this is the one thing I don’t love about the keyboard, and it has been enough of an annoyance to keep me from declaring it a 5-star product.I also would have preferred a full, 104-key layout (at 98 keys, are you really saving anything significant?), but I’ve adapted quicker than I expected to the more compact design. It should come fairly naturally to those who are used to a full-size.That’s where the criticisms end. I use this keyboard for work (heavy typing), gaming, and casual computing. It excels in all of these use cases. The keys are a joy to press, with just the right amount of clickiness and tactility, and a very nice concavity to the caps, which cradles the fingers pleasantly. It has a very solid, premium feel to it, and I expect this keyboard will last years.I love how easy it is to switch output modes. I use this keyboard with three different computers, for different purposes, and the wired/wireless/Bluetooth modes all come in handy for me. It’s a small detail, but the switch used to change between these modes is solid and easy to set. This could have been a wonky, annoying process, but a well-made physical switch makes it a breeze.I doubt that I’ll ever truly put it to the test, with my particular use pattern, but the internal battery seems more than capable (for use with the wireless/Bluetooth modes). The on-board screen interface is a nice, premium feature, though there ARE some elements of the keyboard’s functionality which cannot be controlled via its menus. For example, you can control the light effect, but not the color. Small nitpick. If you can get this for a sale price, I’d highly recommend it. It’s a little harder to recommend at regular retail price, as I just don’t see it being SO much better than a lot of other mechanical keyboards offered for significantly less $, but it IS very solid and I love it (except for the backlight).
