Easy to use, work well
These work well, pair immediately with the Emporia app, and I really like the built in energy usage info.

Works fine, great app, a bit tricky to connect
They worked great, and the app is good. It was a little tricky to get them to connect to the wi-fi. You have to make sure you are connecting to a 2.4 g. And even then on one of the four I had to connect to its internal Wi-Fi directly because it wouldn’t detect but after that it worked fine.

Love it
What a great product. The energy monitoring is a bonus, the ability to remote switch on and off on a schedule or manually is great. I have 2 emporia monitoring systems on my home panels and they have worked flawlessly with antenna extensions. These are wifi 2.4ghz based and you do need a wifi signal. Wifi connection is likely their Achilles heel. So work with them knowing that when I comes to placement.I use these to switch on a scheduled filter fan, monitor power usage, and as a kill switch for things I don’t want tampered with.

Setup could be easier, otherwise great
Highly irritated with you know who* for discontinuing support for the dozens of smart plugs in my house but very happy with emporia’s replacements. We went with these because they’re reasonably priced, get good if not 5-star reviews, and we already have the app because we have al their car charger, which we’re very happy with. (Still want it to work in reverse so we can use the truck as a generator.) Setup was tricky because they are 2.4 only and we have mesh routers, so getting both the phone and the plug on the same one required some effort. Automatic setup didn’t work for us, so we had to use the hot spot method. Highly recommend doing several at once; once the phone gets on the same router, it’s easier. Integrates perfectly with Alexa with zero effort. Simply there instantaneously. Took over right where you know who* left off. Especially like being able to see how much power we’re using at each outlet. Expect to go with the emporia panel setup when our power distributor starts time-of-day pricing. Expect to add solar panel control when our power generator stops buying what we generate at retail price. Sure hope emporia doesn’t go the way of you know who.**w3m0

Easy set-up, Google Home integration
Transitioning from another app based smart plug that didn’t support the app after Threads integration. Already using Emporia for our EV charger, so using the app was not a downside. Google Home integration was a plus, disappointed that it didn’t extend to Apple Home. App design is elegantly simple and easily does what is expected in terms of setting schedules and ad hoc control of the on-off switch. Being able to see power consumption is a game changer over the previous smart plug. Expanded smart plug use to our freezers for this very purpose since it also allows you to know if/when the freezer powers off. Overall, a very well done and useful device.

Great for monitoring electrical usage at several outlets
These can be a little finicky to connect to your the tracking app, but once connected, they allow you track usage and turn off things plugged into them. You can schedule them to turn items on and off at specific times. Items like TVs & computers draw electricity even when “off”.

Useful for monitoring power usage
These things are very useful and I’ve bought like 20 of them but there are a few things that make them only 3 stars instead of 5.First, even though they’re designed to measure power usage they can’t handle the higher watt appliances that you probably most concerned with. If used with many portable heaters and air conditioners they will shut the power off after a while and send you a nasty email notification about how they’re not designed to handle high loads. It seems to me that if a product is made to measure the power usage of what you plug into a standard wall socket it should be designed to handle ANY appliance that that wall socket can handle. The app is missing some obvious conveniences such as the ability to sort the order of these devices when you have a bunch of them as I do. This could be a shameless attempt to steer customers to their more expensive products which allow grouping by circuit. The app is otherwise reasonably functional but is organized poorly and feels clunky. And of course you can’t use these at all without setting up an account on their servers. The pairing process is a little wonky and can take a few attempts and device resets to work right. It’s also a negative that they can’t use newer 5GHz WiFi networks. Finally, these are probably more expensive than they should be. However, I can’t find comparable competing products so I guess they can charge what they want.Despite the negatives, these things are very useful and I’ve bought a lot of them.

These work well. I really like how I can nest these plugs inside my wider emporia network. So for example, if you put the plug on a circuit that is already being tracked at the panel, it is smart enough to subtract your plug from that nested total, and not double count that device/receptacle. See my screenshot where my Denon amp is nested inside of a wider circuit that includes the remainder of the home theatre system. You can also setup subroutines on each one of these. For example – disable every night. I use this plug to force the amp off each day, as it has a standing 100 watt draw.Effectively, these plugs allow you to get more than the 16 circuits in the standard emporia panel system, and I like that. You can also nest plugs in the Main circuit, such that it also doesn’t mess up your totals.

I was able to target high consumption devices at home and reduce my bill significantly. I love them, I had to buy more than one kit to cover most of the outlet in the house with permanent appliances on them. Worth the price.
