Hue FTW, as usual
Bought for the bridge but the recessed lights were a great addition. Such an incredible set of features with the new bridge, I can’t imagine life without it. The recessed light modules look and create ambiance significantly better than the hue recessed lights alone. While it took a little bit of coaxing to install initially, they’ve been plug and play ever since. I wouldn’t bother purchasing the recessed lights for every room, but they look significantly more refined than the traditional bulb-in-can look.

Bridge Pro, finally!
Wish that this Starter Kit came with the Recessed lights and not the retrofit ones. Either way great Bridge and lights, I bought mainly for the Bridge Pro, but I am able to use the lights as well. I highly recommend getting the bridge pro especially if you’re looking at Hue’s motion sensors, this bridge can help with that.

You may have to get a SW update for it to work on your network.
If you use 10.x.x.x and subnet 255.0.0.0, it’s not you, it’s Hue. Do what”s necessary to create a network Hue CAN connect to so you can download the October SW update:Oct 22, 2025Bridge Pro Software version 2071112020We have resolved an issue where in very rare cases the Bridge Pro did not start correctly, and the LEDs keep on flashing white, when the LAN IP-Address of the Bridge Pro was in the range 10.x.x.x/8 (i.e. netmask 255.0.0.0).We’ll start rolling out this firmware over the next few days. Turn on automatic updates in the app to make sure you get it as soon as it’s released!

Bridge Pro Kit worth it
Great price for the kit, I needed a few more down lights. The bridge pro is faster than my old Hue Bridge. Sync works better and my hue switches have significantly less lag. If you have a good amount of bulbs and switches, definitely get the pro.

Retention Tabs Do Not Work Well
This light has an unusual retention tab design, in which three metal wings swing out and can adjust to different sized cans. In theory, this should work universally, but in practice, they do not work well. An hour of jury-rigging, and I gave up. This would have been my first foray into the Hue ecosystem, but I opted for a cheaper model with the standard spring tabs you can squeeze together. Poor engineering sacrifice for the sake of compatibility.
