Excellent value, heavy duty, nice and clear killer battery. Good buy
This thing costs 75% less than ring and is compatible with both 2.4G and 5G wifi. It has a killer picture and records everything,it’s multi functional with lights, and many different components in your house,I’ve had it installed for 4 days now after charging it for 8 hours and it’s still on 99% battery life. Figure 1% every few days, means it’s probably 5 months before you have to charge it. I just bought a 1 Terabyte micro SD card and spent as much on the card as the unit. But a terabyte is years worth of recording,it can accept 32 megabyte SD cards as well and they record a few months before you have to erase them so those are 6-8 bucks on Amazon and work fine. Anyway this is a really good unit and super easy to install and set up. Will definitely buy more for my other properties. Amazon rocks, sometimes you get a dud from some company but amazon always makes it right. And this camera is nice and beefy without being to heavy. Really happy with this deal. Ok I just looked at the price and it went from 34.99 to 49.99 damn near overnight,to me,that’s a huge jump, and I would have paid 49.99 but knowing they raised the price 15 bucks seems a bit greedy. But it’s a good unit. I wouldn’t pay a penny over 50 and now that I seen them jump 15 overnight seems way off and I won’t be purchasing additional units at that price. A couple of bucks and bring it up from 34.99 to 39.99 yeah, cool,I get it. But 15 dollars overnight? No,no no they can keep the additional units,I don’t do business with greedy people like that.

Best affordable doorbell cam on the market
Does everything I need it to do at a very affordable price:-Person and motion detection is great and customizable. It sends me notifications almost instantaneously.-Has long battery life.-Very easy to set up.-App is easy to use.-Lag is very minimal even though my doorbell is located a fair distance from my Wi-Fi router.-High quality video-It’s holding up very well in high and low temps and inclement weather.-A subscription is NOT necessary. I don’t use Tapo cloud, but it has that feature too if you would want it. I just store video on an SD card which does just fine for me.-It comes with adhesive and screw mounting hardware as well as an angled mount, so you have multiple mounting options.I’ve set up Tapo camera and doorbell systems for other people, and they have no issues whatsoever. Don’t let the $35 price tag fool you; this is a great doorbell camera that I would recommend to anyone.

Better Than The Name Brand Doorbells
Firstly, the setup and charging for this doorbell was extremely easy. No wires, no connections, nothing like that – just drill the base into the door frame, then attach the doorbell into the base with one screw on the bottom. The picture quality on the doorbell is impressive, even in low or no light! I’ve had other doorbells (Ring, Amcrest) and this quality is as good or better. The motion detection is very sensitive – which is a good thing and a bad thing. It’s great because it doesn’t miss anything. It’s bad because sometimes a large bug will trip it, and this can quickly drain battery life. I’ve backed off the recognition area and that should converse the battery significantly. I had it watch the sidewalk and street (it’s a side street, but still sees a moderate amount of traffic) and the battery was down to 63% in 10 days. I set it to only trip recordings for the front steps (changed the painted area to monitor) and I expect the battery to last much, much longer now.It was easy to sync to Alexa and now doorbell activations go off on my dot as well! It’s also nice to be able to talk through the doorbell, but I don’t think I’m going to need that feature very often.I would definitely buy this again, and the price is unbeatable.I can access my recordings right on the app WITHOUT a subscription because I purchased a micro SD card and put it in the doorbell – one of the best and most subtle features, to be sure, unlike many, many other cameras and doorbells.

Solid doorbell cam but very limited Home Assistant and Scrypted functionality
I’m a big user of Home Assistant (HA) and Scrypted. I generally like the Tapo/TP-Link because they integrate really well with both. So far I have ~10 Tapo cameras. All work well, local-first with Scrypted and HA. I figured I would try this doorbell, hoping to get it hooked up to Scrypted and HA. I wanted to do some automation like playing a chime through my speakers when someone presses the doorbell and show the video stream in Apple Home via Scrypted. I was able to get it connected easily with the Tapo app, and got it connected pretty easily via the TP-Link Home Assistant integration. But then it barely exposes any functionality on HA. I attached a screenshot. Stuff is grayed out bc this is after I took it offline, but that’s the extent of what was exposed for integration with HA. Also, unlike the Tapo cams, it doesn’t expose an RTSP stream, so I don’t think there’s any clean way to get it into Scrypted. I suppose all of this is because it’s a battery-powered device. But I figure it’s good to post this for others considering it from Home Assistant and Scrypted.

    Great door camera
I have another tapo camera and is awesome to have them both in the same app. Looks and sound is great, does the job. Great connection and long battery life.

Affordable, no BS, reliable, and secure
This is the way it should be!Setup is relatively easy and I appreciate the customization and settings. Connectivity is great, binds to Alexa as a ringer and phone notifications are fast and, most importantly, not behind a subscription! FOV of the camera could be a bit bigger but it’s no big deal. I appreciate the local storage option of your own SD card, allowing for more local user control.A lot of smart home stuff can be invasive, user data exploitive, or use deceptive monetary tricks to squeeze out your money – I’m very refreshed to find that this product is user focused without sacrificing much else. Pretty close to perfect, I recommend it.

Great. Easy set up, easy install.Amazing quality video, maybe a little too sensitive (picks up cars driving by) , but I’m sure that can be tweaked, I haven’t played around with the settings yet.NOTE: this does not come with a chime!

Exceeded my expectations. I just wish the 3M tape provided with it was stronger. There is an option to drill it in place, but since I’ll be moving out soon, I chose not to. The tape came off, so I ended up tying the piece to my door and hanging it on a 3M hook that was already attached. Despite that, the product itself works great. All my cameras are from Tapo, and this fits perfectly with my setup.
