Ecobee packs everything into a sleek, easy to use thermostat. Did I mention, It will save you money!
I have had this thermostat installed in my home now for about 3 months. Ecobee does not lie when they claim that this system will save you money. Just received my second electric/gas bill since installing, and my cost has gone down at least $40 on each monthly billing statement so far. Let alone from this system saving me money, which is worth every penny by itself, this is a really “Cool” and sleek-looking piece of equipment. The ease of use, functionality, and compatibility to my HVAC system was streamlined. The speed of the installation and the ease of the on-screen instructions made everything go super smooth. It’s a must-have if you want to save money on the never-ending cycle of higher and higher energy bills! It’s on track to pay for itself in less than a year.

Best smart thermostat out there
I had an ecobee in my old home years ago – then I moved and the place came with a Nest which was ok, but not as good in my opinion. I decided to go back to the ecobee for this new place and I couldn’t be happier – install was easy, was worried at first since it was blowing hot when I wanted cold but just needed to change the Heat Pump setting like it suggested I should! Works with Apple Home and Siri too so that’s fantastic since we’re an Apple household.

Better than Nest
Replaced my aging Nest thermostat after Google’s shenanigans. It’s better in every sense.

It’s great to wake up to a comfortable climate
You have both the ability to schedule your heat or cooling, or adjust it from bed and hit the snooze. It’s also great if you forget when you leave to turn the thermostat down and you can do it while mobile. I work outside in the heat and cold, so it’s nice after a long day to come home to your place adjusted to your liking. Support for the thermostat is very good, as sometimes installation isn’t for everyone. I consider myself hands on, but I had an issue with furnace wiring, by support was able to walk me through with the ability to communicate using back and forth images. I even installed the entire furnace board myself a couple years back, but they got me up and running. Also, the home automation through Alexa is great, and you can even add items to your shopping list with the thermostat, just add the skill.

Features are less than I had hoped
This took many hours to install, including an hour convincing customer service that my faulty door sensor was faulty. I don’t do a ton of homeI shouldn’t have bothered with the door sensors – they do not work with any kind of alarm once the free trial runs out. You need a $5/month unmonitored subscription to arm the system. ($10/month for a subscription that includes monitoring, which I understand better but don’t currently want)The thermostat isn’t quite as intuitive as a Nest, but of course Nest has its own issues. I do appreciate Ecobee’s privacy policy, and I can hope planned obsolescence is further off than with some of the larger brand name thermostats. The “air quality” monitoring is a bit handsy-wavy. It’s only VOCs and CO2, not particulate matter, which was of more interest to me, and it takes a baseline reading the first day so it can give you relative readings rather than absolute ones. I’m more interested in how dusty my house is, as well as how much wildfire smoke is making it inside, but it doesn’t do that.In short, I did hasty research and bought this in a hurry when my house was very cold. Hopefully reviews like this one will help you to make a better informed decision. If I had known then what I know now, I might have still purchased an ecobee, but it would not have been the “premium” model, which I hereby dub the “pay it monthly” model.

Great thermostat
This was our very first thermostat in this house and we made the right choice. Very attractive, easy to understand, and efficient. I love that it connects to WiFi and provides a lot of information. I would recommend if you’re looking for a smart thermostat

Works really well, but all of the smart features are not exactly helpful
I have never had an Ecobee product before, but I really like this one. To be honest, I would go for the slightly less premium version because having the air quality sensor is not very helpful. Most of the time it’s too vague to do anything with the information, and if you’re cooking, it will always say the air quality is bad. It also functions as a speaker, which, at least in my home, is super, not helpful. It will always show up as a device in your Spotify device list, and you can never turn the feature off, which is really annoying. For slightly less money, I think that the next version down is exactly what you need because it’s still automatically schedules your temperature changes and works with Apple HomeKit, which is mainly why I bought this thermostat. It has never disconnected, and it was super easy to set up, which I cannot say for a lot of smart thermostats.

Emphasis on Smart
Our house had these stubborn Honeywell thermostats that gave us many problems over the years. I replaced them with this model for the main floor and have ecobee Enhanced for the other floors. Installation and set-up was quick and easy, and luckily we get an incentive in our area for using a smart thermostat! It keeps temperatures comfortable throughout the day, and still finds ways to save on energy consumption.
